Grants

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment may offer grants to organisations or individuals, to support the Australian Government’s policies and programs on early child care and childhood education, school education, higher education, vocational education and training, international education, research and creating more jobs and increased productivity.

The Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines (CGRGs) establishes the overarching Commonwealth grants policy framework and articulated the expectation of all non-corporate Commonwealth entities in relation to grants administration. The CGRGs are supported by the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rules 2014 (PGPA Rules). The Department's grant administration operates in line with the whole of government grants policy framework. The department awards grants in line with the Commonwealth grants policy framework.

The Commonwealth Grants Rules and Guidelines require that details of grants entered into prior 31 December 2017 are published on the Department's website. Grants entered into from 31 December 2017 are published on GrantConnect.

    As a result of the November 2015 Machinery of Government changes, the following grants approved by the Department of Social Services are now managed by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment.
