Approved learning frameworks

The National Quality Framework includes two approved learning frameworks that support and promote children’s learning.

Birth to five years

Belonging, Being & Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework is a guide to supporting and nurturing children’s learning from birth to 5 years, including the transition to school.

The frameworks were developed by the Australian Government in consultation with:

  • state and territory governments
  • the early childhood education and care sector 
  • academics.

Services are encouraged to develop their own strategies to meet the framework’s objectives.

Approved learning frameworks update

Education Ministers have commissioned an update of the two approved learning frameworks. ACECQA is leading the project on behalf of all governments.
