Budget: $12.6m to cut red tape in child care

The Australian Government will provide $12.6 million over four years to reduce red tape in the child care sector.

We will build a child care service website, consolidating two existing sites to reduce the reporting burden on providers.

This will make it easier for families to get accurate information about child care services, quality, fees and vacancies.

We will also pilot a project to share data and undertake joint monitoring and compliance operations with two states to target high-risk child care providers.

This steps up efforts to prevent and detect child care fraud without increasing the administrative burden on services that do the right thing.

We will improve the way Additional Child Care Subsidy is administered, reducing the administrative burden for child care providers and some families that occurs when family eligibility and entitlements change.
