A simplified approvals process for new services offering early childhood education and care was announced today.

Coming into effect in July 2023, the single streamlined process will strengthen the sharing of information between jurisdictions and support child care monitoring and compliance activities.
These changes will benefit up to 1500 mostly small businesses seeking to establish new early childhood education and child care services each year.
The department is committed to reducing red tape by reducing the time and cost that child care providers must invest in supplying duplicate information to the Australian and state and territory governments.
The changes will also strengthen fraud control measures, reducing the risks to the community and costs to government associated with detecting and responding to fraud and non-compliance.
The reduced red tape will save the sector an estimated $62 million a year.
