What to expect

The event will allow you to chat with employers, discuss current job opportunities and career options in the tourism and hospitality industry right across Australia.

Day 1, Wednesday 24 November, will help you get ready to put your best foot forward when engaging with employers on day two.

There will be a number of workshops you can attend to help you get job ready and secure your next role. You will also gain early access to view the job vacancies.

Day 2, Thursday 25 November, gives you the opportunity to connect virtually with employers to discuss current and future job opportunities. You will also be able to participate in live workshops and presentations throughout the day.

2:00 pm AEDT Working in the registered clubs industry Hear from the CEO of Bankstown Sports Club, one of the largest registered clubs in Australia. Listen to his journey to becoming a CEO and about the many and varied roles on offer in the club industry.
3:00 pm AEDT Recharging your wellbeing through challenging times Join Beyond Blue, to hear about how the pandemic has impacted mental health and wellbeing in Australia and receive practical tips about how job seekers can protect and enhance their mental health and wellbeing.
3:30 pm AEDT Creating a winning resume and cover Letter for the tourism and hospitality industries Join us as we learn how to put together a winning resume and cover letter for the Hospitality/Tourism sector. We will learn about the skills employers’ value and how we can showcase these in our applications.
4:00 pm AEDT Education and training options for the tourism and hospitality industries in Victoria Interested in building your career? Learn what training and education options are available to help you reach your goals. In this session we will look at courses, funding, and study opportunities
4:00 pm AEDT Education and training options for the tourism and hospitality industries in Queensland Find out what funding may be available should an employer deem you a suitable candidate but may require some formal training. Alternatively, you see a job you are interested in and want to know what sort of training you could do to help you get it.
4:00 pm AEDT Education and training options for the tourism and hospitality industries in NSW This session provides practical information on how to find, select and enrol in fee-free VET training in NSW.
4:00 pm AEDT Hospitality & tourism education & training options in WA This presentation will focus on what employers look for, what your resume should include, how you can be amazing, what skills you need and everything in between.

1:30 pm AEDT How an unexpected career in hospitality changed my life There are few better career journey stories than Leanne’s: from pouring beers in a bar in Queenstown to Managing Director in one of the world’s leading hotel groups in 25 years. Leanne shares her journey and what makes hotels such a spectacular choice for anyone looking to build a brilliant career.

4:00 pm AEDT Workplace basics for employees and job seekers Hear from the Fair Work Ombudsman - the national workplace regulator about the supports available for employees and job seekers. This includes information about basic workplace rights and entitlements and handy tips and free tools and resources to ensure your workplace entitlements are met.
