No, this Professional Learning Package is for NSCP funded chaplains only.
All chaplains and school communities have access to a free online eSafety professional learning program, which provides participants with an understanding of the relevant issues and strategies available to support the safe, responsible and ethical use of ICT.
Please note: the free online eSafety professional learning program does not replace the required Professional Learning Package that NSCP funded chaplains must complete.
What does the Professional Learning Package for NSCP funded chaplains include?
The Professional Learning Package is a three-hour webinar and covers topics on cyberbullying (including pathways to report and support); empowering bystanders, whole-school preventative approaches and a general overview of online safety issues.
How do NSCP funded chaplains access the Professional Learning Package?
NSCP funded chaplains can access the Professional Learning Package.
What are NSCP funded chaplains' obligations on completion of Professional Learning Package?
NSCP funded chaplains must provide a copy of their Certificate of Completion to their employer. Schools may also request a copy of the Certificate. Employers may be asked to forward a copy of this Certificate to States and Territories on request.
Will NSCP funded chaplains need to complete the Professional Learning Package, if they have completed prior learning in this subject?
Yes. All NSCP funded chaplains are required to complete the Professional Learning Package irrespective of prior learning on this subject.
Do NSCP funded chaplains need to use their own time to complete the training?
Each State and Territory has different arrangements in place for when NSCP funded chaplains can complete the training. Please contact your State or Territory Education department to clarify the arrangements.
Who pays for the Professional Learning Package for NSCP funded chaplains?
The Professional Learning Package is paid for by the Australian Government. There is no cost to NSCP funded chaplains.
When should NSCP funded chaplains register for the training?
NSCP funded chaplains should register for the Professional Learning Package as early as possible. Registration for this training is open.
How much time do NSCP funded chaplains have to complete the Professional Learning Package?
The Professional Learning Package should be completed by NSCP funded chaplains as soon as possible.
What if NSCP funded chaplains don't have access to a PC or stable internet?
NSCP funded chaplains should contact their employer to seek suitable arrangements to complete the PLP. It is reasonable that NSCP funded chaplains be able to complete the training at the employer's premises or at the school they are servicing as a NSCP funded chaplain. However, NSCP funded chaplains will need to negotiate this with their employer or school.
Can a NSCP funded chaplain fail the assessment part of the training?
NSCP funded chaplains may attempt the assessment more than once to complete their training.
Do NSCP funded chaplains need to complete this training annually?
No. NSCP funded chaplains should complete the Professional Learning Package once between 2019 and 2022.
