The National Careers Institute (NCI) ensures Australians have access to reliable and accurate careers information, resources, and support.
Our vision is to be Australia’s recognised source of independent careers information for Australians of all ages and at all stages of their career.
The National Careers Institute
The National Careers Institute (NCI) was established to ensure Australians have access to authoritative and accurate careers information and support, whatever their age or career stage.
The foundation of the NCI’s work is the world-leading labour market intelligence provided by the National Skills Commission.
On this page, you’ll also find information about the NCI’s Advisory Board. The Board guides and supports the NCI’s strategic direction by providing independent, expert advice.
Are you looking for your first job or switching jobs? Perhaps you’re considering a change in career or need advice when returning to the workforce?
Visit the NCI’s Your Career website to be connected to education, training and work resources and support, and get one step closer to your current career needs and goals.
Enhanced Support for School Leavers
All Australians aged 15-24 are eligible for a free one-on-one, 45-minute career guidance session with a qualified career practitioner through the School Leavers Information Service. The information service is available via text, email or phone.
You can discuss any questions you may have and plan your next steps around study, upskilling or entering the workforce after school.
The School Leavers Information Kit, Your Career: What’s next for you? is also available at yourcareer.gov.au. This is a downloadable or printable brochure providing you, your family and friends with tailored education, training and work options and information.
Are you a parent or guardian of a school leaver? We’ve developed a dedicated Parents and Guardian’s Guide for School Leavers, just for you.
