Communiqué for the New Employment Services Reference Group 14 May 2020

The seventh meeting of the New Employment Services Trial Reference Group was held via videoconference on 14 May 2020.

Members were updated on the current caseload and trends for jobactive and NEST and increase in referrals to the online employment services system.

Members were provided with an update on the National Customer Service Line and Digital Contact Centre, with most queries relating to Mutual Obligation contingency arrangements coming from new income support recipients.

Members discussed the NEST evaluation, including the engagement of Social Research Centre to complete the longitudinal case study research on the job seeker experience in NEST.

Members also spoke about Australia’s economic recovery and the role of Employment Services. Members were asked to provide input on ways the working groups in the two trial regions should be used during this COVID-19 economic recovery phase.
