Sharon worked with Sarah Duffield, National Human Resources Manager for Bridgestone, to roll out the program to their stores around Australia, using the ELOs located in each state.
Employment services providers and jobseekers were invited to an information session which included a site tour to learn more about Bridgestone and the careers on offer.
Sharon said there were a lot of young people keen to take up this chance to kick start a career.
“We saw a lot of interest from young job seekers in the opportunities at Bridgestone and they were lining up to submit their resumes after each session,” Sharon said.
Sarah was also impressed with the outcomes of the information sessions.
“The program continues to prove itself as a genuine employment pathway for motivated individuals.”
Bridgestone have now employed 12 interns, with four recently promoted in the Commercial Team.
One of the successful PaTH interns, Liam said the experience at Bridgestone had been validating.
“I felt I have been rewarded for my hard work and dedication throughout the 12 week internship,” Liam said.
Liam is now the Fleet Coordinator at Bridgestone Rocklea, in Brisbane, and he believes the internship has made a big impact on his career development and aspirations.
The internship was also great to build confidence for Stiephanos, who moved up from a Tyre Technician to a Fleet Service Technician.
“I’m pretty stoked, it’s a life changing journey, with new friendships and hard learning curves,” Stiephanos said.
The program has been such a success for Bridgestone, that a further virtual information session is planned for January 2021 to connect even more young people with jobs.
