Self‑Employment Assistance provides a range of services for current and aspiring business owners, ranging from flexible individual Business Advice Sessions to a structured 12-month package of Small Business Coaching.
About the program
The program’s flexibility will allow people to choose the support that best fits their needs to run a successful small business. Self-Employment Assistance will replace the current New Business Assistance with NEIS program in 51 Employment Regions around Australia from 1 July 2022.
The department released the Request for Tender for Self-Employment Assistance 2022–2027 (RFT) on 7 December 2021 seeking responses from Tenderers interested in delivering the Workforce Australia – Self-Employment Assistance program 2022–2027 from 1 July 2022.
The program offers flexible services (eligibility rules apply) including:
- Exploring Self-Employment Workshops
- Small Business Training
- Help to develop a Business Plan
- Small Business Coaching
- Business Health Checks, and
- Business Advice Sessions.

Your provider will assess your business idea or existing business to ensure it meets the eligibility requirements.
