DSO Pilot Projects

The DSO is working to ensure Australia has a highly skilled, resilient and adaptable digital workforce that is responsive and demand-driven to the needs of employers and industry.

Work is based on the need to deliver skilled workers to meet the evolving demands of Australian industry and the broader economy. The DSO will conduct its activities through five delivery and supporting programs, including a qualification design trial.

First Pilot Project - Train 100 Analysts

This first project, currently underway, seeks to test innovative solutions to train 100 Data Analysts. Participants from a diverse range of groups, including employers and training bodies, were invited to share innovative and experimental ideas to develop an employer-led approach that allows training providers the opportunity to create course content specific to employers’ needs. Qualification design trial

The qualification design trial is focused on reconceptualising and designing qualifications ‘from the ground up’ to address the evolving skills needs of employers and individuals within the digital sector.

The DSO and the Australian Government are co-designing a qualification design trial based on current and future core skills and job roles.  

Delivery program one

This project focuses on the development of a new, employer-led skills assessment model to ensure digital skills standards are relevant to the needs of current and future employment demands. Evaluation, reporting and lessons learnt will guide the development of a future operational model.

Delivery program two

The Digital Career Pathway project focuses on simplifying and integrating digital pathways to make digital careers more accessible. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the DSO will seek to understand and reduce complexities and barriers in this area. Evaluation, reporting and lessons learnt will guide the development of a future operational model.

Delivery program three

This project focuses on driving the engagement of active industry leaders to create a coherent community of stakeholders and build strong strategic partnerships with key organisations.
