Trades Recognition Australia assessment services consultation

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment (the Department) is seeking feedback on a proposal to change the fees charged by Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) for skills assessment services provided under the Job Ready Program (JRP), Migration Skills Assessment (MSA) and Migration Points Advice (MPA) from 1 September 2021.

Date opened

A Consultation Paper provides information on the proposed changes and how TRA will operate on a cost recovery basis from 1 September 2021. Fees have not been reviewed since they were first introduced in 2010 for the JRP and 2013 for the MSA and MPA.

Before work advances to facilitate the changes, the Department seeks feedback on the proposal from participants and stakeholders in the skilled migration sector.

Feedback on the proposal has closed

Submissions were provided via email to and were accepted until Friday, 28 May 2021.

Following the consultation, the proposal to change fees was agreed by Government.

Read the Cost Recovery Implementation Statement containing information on the proposal and how DESE determined the new fees for these assessment services. New fees will commence on 1 September 2021.
