The Women in STEM Cadetships and Advanced Apprenticeships Program supports women who are currently working in paid employment to pursue an industry-relevant higher education qualification in a STEM field.
On this page:
The program was announced as part of the Women’s Economic Security Statement to fund part-time study for women employees looking to upskill in STEM fields or move into a STEM career. The Australian Government has committed $25.1 million from 2020-21 to 2024-25 to deliver the program.
The first application round in December 2020 to January 2021 invited higher education providers to apply to deliver courses under the program. A total of 18 higher education providers were approved to deliver 37 STEM or Agriculture courses in collaboration with more than 40 employers.
Applications are now open for new and currently approved higher education providers to apply for employer-reserved places under the program. Applications will close 5.00pm (AEST) on 9 May 2022.
Who can apply?
Higher education providers and non-higher education providers (NUHEP) can apply for places under the program. Existing providers under the program must apply if they wish to be considered for additional places.
Employers who are interested in participating should contact a higher education provider to discuss course options that meet industry needs, and potentially support a higher education provider’s application.
