Starting on 1 July, Workforce Australia will be the new employment service delivered by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment
Workforce Australia will become the front door for government employment and skills services, helping Australians to find and keep a job, change jobs or create their own job, connecting employers with job seekers, and a refreshed network of providers to deliver tailored case management.
Workforce Australia employment services will give individuals the knowledge and tools they need to get a job, learn new skills or access the extra support if they need it.
If you are a job-ready job seeker you will be placed in our online employment services. If you need more support to get job ready an Employment Service Provider will support you with tailored services to help you find and keep meaningful work.
Workforce Australia will be a more efficient and effective system for providers to support job seekers who need it the most.
Providers will deliver tailored case management for job seekers to help them find and keep meaningful work. With reduced caseload numbers it is expected that the focus will be on delivering a personalised service to job seekers.
Business and Industry
Workforce Australia will support business and industry with tailored recruitment and workforce planning. The new service will streamline how businesses find and hire the right people, with the right skills at the right time.
Consultation on the new system
The new model was informed by extensive collaboration with:
- over 1400 stakeholders
- national and internal research
- intensive user centred design with job seekers, employers and employment service providers.
Consultation and user-centred design is continuing during the New Employment Services Trial and the development of the final model.
Further information and previous consultations can be seen on our Consultation to inform the new model.
2020-21 Budget updates
From 1 July 2022, the Workforce Australia - Transition to Work (TtW) program, will be the dedicated youth employment service. This will ensure more young people (aged 15-24) have access to targeted youth employment services and have the best opportunity to become work ready and secure employment.
